Unfair labor practice strike

Strike type
Unfair labor practice

This is about the hospital’s unfair labor practices. Nurses are still on the line because Henry Ford Genesys has not bargained fairly.

What Henry Ford Genesys has done.

Bad-faith bargaining

Bad-faith bargaining is a tactic used by an employer to avoid getting a contract. Henry Ford Genesys has delayed a fair agreement and kept nurses on the line.

Failure to provide information

Henry Ford Genesys has failed to provide requested information. Without it, the union cannot fully represent members during negotiations.

Take-it-or-leave-it proposals

Take-it-or-leave-it proposals from the employer are demands, not bargaining toward a real agreement. Nurses need a contract that is negotiated, not forced.

Regressive bargaining

Regressive bargaining means making proposals, pulling them off the table, and going backwards with language that disadvantages employees. Henry Ford Genesys has done that.

Illegally declaring impasse

Henry Ford Genesys illegally declared impasse and implemented a contract while the union was still modifying proposals. Nurses are still out because the hospital tried to force terms instead of reaching an agreement.

Safe staffing. Same jobs.

Staffing rules the hospital must follow

Genesys nurses have faced assignments above what nurses consider safe, including 10 or more patients on medical-surgical floors and 3-to-1 ratios in the intensive care unit.

Back to the same jobs

Striking nurses should return to the positions and shifts they held before the walkout, with seniority intact.
